FAQ

Thread reads call metadata (title, date, duration, participants), CRM deal associations, user profiles, and call transcripts. Private calls are automatically excluded. Raw transcripts are not displayed in the UI — only AI-extracted insights are shown to users.
Thread matches calls using CRM deal IDs. If your Gong workspace is connected to Salesforce or HubSpot, Thread uses the Opportunity or Deal ID associated with each call to link it to the correct account. No manual tagging is required.
Thread connects at the organization level — a Gong Tech Admin authorizes the integration once. Thread only processes calls that meet all of the following criteria: (1) the call is associated with the account's CRM deal (Salesforce Opportunity or HubSpot Deal), (2) the call was hosted by the account's assigned AE or their manager, and (3) the call is not marked as private in Gong. Raw transcripts are not displayed in the UI — only AI-extracted insights are surfaced to CSMs.

Integration Diagrams

Thread pulls call metadata and transcripts from Gong via the REST API using OAuth2 authentication. Calls are matched to customer accounts using CRM deal IDs (Salesforce Opportunity or HubSpot Deal). Transcripts are processed by AI to extract structured insights — pain points, customer goals, key stakeholders, and sales commitments — which are then displayed to CSMs on the account onboarding page. Requirements

Subscriptions Required

Must have a Thread subscription. The Gong integration is available on all Thread plans. No separate subscription is required.

Authenticating User Requirements

To authenticate this integration for the first time, a user must be a Gong Tech Admin and have admin permissions in Thread.

Connect

  1. Navigate to Connectors in Thread and click Connect next to Gong.
  2. You will be redirected to Gong to authorize Thread. A Tech Admin in your Gong workspace is required for this step.
  3. Review the requested permissions and click Allow.
  4. You'll be redirected back to Thread. The Gong connector will now show as connected.
  5. When new accounts enter onboarding, Thread will automatically find relevant calls by matching the CRM deal ID and assigned AE, then extract insights from transcripts.
